The Leadership & Happiness Symposium
June 19 - 21, 2024
The Leadership & Happiness Laboratory hosts an annual Symposium at the Harvard Kennedy School, which aims to instill leaders with the best happiness science so that they may learn to teach it.
This June 19-21, we brought together the leading experts in the fields of psychology and behavioral economics, including Dr. Arthur C. Brooks, Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar, Dr. Owen Flanagan, Dr. James Gardiner, Karen Guggenheim, Dr. Alexis Redding, Dr. Lisa Miller, Dr. Laurie Santos, Dr. Martin Seligman, Dr. Hitendra Wadhwa, Dr. Robert Waldinger, and others.
Across three days, our speakers and panelists covered how to create a happiness curriculum for universities, discuss the benefits of spirituality, and explore what we get wrong about well-being.

“I spent time with Brooks at his inaugural Leadership & Happiness Symposium at the Kennedy School, and was thrilled to recently have the opportunity to ask him a series of questions. I think you’ll find his answers as insightful and inspiring as I do.”

“My biggest takeaway is that leaders need to be held accountable for increasing the well-being of their employees. It should be written into their job description. It should be integrated into their formal performance review process…We all know that we measure what matters!”
